Howl-o, I'm Tekla! I'm named after Tekla Butcher-Monson, a famous musher and daughter of Iditarod and Yukon Quest champion parents. I have extra long legs for running super fast, and I'm sure I could be a champion sled dog in Alaska if I had the chance! (I will settle for some long walkies though!) I'm also very intelligent. The humans say I have beauty AND brains! I'm a good girl, and I'm fun and easy to train! I very quickly learned my name, kennel, down, come, out of the kitchen, wait, and sit. By the time you read this I probably have even more skills! I am curious and playful with other dogs, and I get along very well with the two other husky girls in my foster home.

I am currently being treated for heartworm. Don't let that scare you - we can go ahead and start the adoption process in the meantime! Once my treatment is done, I expect to have a clean bill of health. I can't have too much excite...
