Meet Lucy – A Gentle 9Year-Old Basset Hound–Terrier Mix
Lucy is a shy, timid, and incredibly sweet 9-year-old Basset Hound–Terrier mix who arrived at Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue after her owner entered hospice care. She and her brother, Ricky, spent their entire lives together, but sadly, not in a safe or loving environment. The family openly admitted that both dogs were hit throughout their lives as a form of discipline—and that no one ever stepped in to stop the abuse. They were surrendered when their owner entered hospice. To make matters worse, not a single family member, including the owner’s husband, was willing to take them in. When they were surrendered, the family assured us the dogs were up to date on their shots, but we quickly discovered they had not seen a veterinarian in more than three years.
