Hazel came to us as a very frightened, truly feral little girl. The world had taught her to be cautious, and trusting people wasn’t something that came naturally. But with patience, kindness, and the reassurance of her best friend Crowley, she’s slowly discovering that people can be gentle, loving, and safe.

And watching that transformation has been nothing short of magical.

These days, Hazel has started rolling over with the sweetest little expressions, as if she’s saying, “I think I want those pets…” She now happily accepts full-body pets from the people she trusts, and every day her walls come down just a little bit more.
