If you met Duffy without knowing her medical history, you would never guess she has a heart condition.
Duffy was born with a congenital heart defect called pulmonic stenosis. It sounds scary, but the most important thing to know is this: it doesn’t slow her down one bit. She runs, plays, wrestles with her dog friends, and lives every day like the happy, carefree pup she is.
Her recent visit with the cardiologist brought encouraging news. Her heart condition has actually improved slightly since her last evaluation. She is not in heart failure, does not need daily heart medication, and surgery is not recommended. Her cardiologist expects her condition to remain stable now that she is fully grown. She will simply need a yearly cardiology recheck so her heart can continue to be monitored.
