Animal Information: Basil is a 5-year-old shepherd/hound mix who was adopted from a WA Shelter in early 2021. Unfortunately, due to changes in his owner’s health and living situation, he has been spending up to 21 hours a day in a crate. His family made sincere efforts to rehome him privately, but as their moving deadline approached, they reached out to DGS for help.
Basil is an affectionate, eager-to-please dog who is craving attention and connection. He is friendly with people and does well with other dogs after proper introductions. He has also lived with a cat and loved him. Basil is both house-trained and crate-trained, and he loves car rides. Because his recent routine has mostly consisted of brief potty breaks and occasional short walks, his leash manners could use some improvement. With a bit of patience and regular activity, he has great potential to thrive in a more engaged and loving environment.
