# Paaw > Paaw is a pet adoption platform that brings together dogs and cats listed by shelters and rescues across the United States and Europe, helps people find the right pet, and puts them in touch with the shelter. Key facts: - Shelters and rescues list their pets on Paaw for free. - Contacting a shelter about a puppy or kitten has a small fee; contacting a shelter about an adult or senior pet is free. - The adoption itself happens with the shelter: its application, meeting the pet and its adoption fee. Paaw never sells animals, and pets are listed by shelters and rescues, never by breeders. - Paaw is run by PAAW SAS, a company registered in France, with a team in Paris and San Francisco led by founder and CEO Chloé Fabiani. - Since 2022, 120,000 pets have found their person on Paaw, with 4,000 shelters and rescues in the United States, France, Spain and Belgium. - Contact: team@paaw.co ## About Paaw - [About Paaw](https://paaw.co/about): who runs Paaw, how adoption works and what it costs - [FAQ](https://paaw.co/faq): questions about Paaw and about adopting - [Team](https://paaw.co/team-paaw): the people behind Paaw ## Adopt a dog or cat in a US city - [Dogs for adoption in New York, NY](https://paaw.co/adopt/new-york/dog);
